I flew into Vegas on Tue. morning and after checking into my hotel and registering for the trade show, I went to the outdoor demo. This is where you can try out the bikes that you are interested in buying. It was packed, and hard to try anything out. All of the popular models were usually being ridden, so I had to settle on what they had - not the right size or not the model I wanted. Not very productive, but fun none the less. The trails were fun and fast and the weather was unseasonably cool in the 60's and 70's. I was fine with that, it's better than 100 and hot!
On Wed. I made it into the show and there were so many booths and people. Overwhelming! Every company seemed to be there and the place is huge.
There were some pretty crazy bikes here. See the size of the tires on the last bike! Great for winter riding in the east or sandy riding in the west. I went to the show with the hopes of finding a couple new bike brands for the store, and was able to meet with reps and see the different lines. I came back not liking the brands I expected I would like, and really liking a couple brands I didn't consider. Glad I went!
It is a great opportunity to meet with companies we are currently working with and looking at their lines for 2012. It will be very beneficial as we move forward with our 2012 orders and knowing what colors and styles are good/bad/so-so.
Like I said earlier, this place is huge, and I was exhausted after every day of the show. So much walking. Fortunately, my hotel was across the street, and it allowed me to get back and fourth pretty easily. It still took 15 minutes to get to my hotel because the hotels and casinos are very, very big.
I stayed at Treasure Island on the strip and it was close to everything. I took a couple walks around the strip after the convention and checked out some of the other hotels and casinos in the area. It's pretty extravagant, everything is larger than life. Lots of people, lights, and signs.
Lots of hot babes apparently!
My hotel was pirate themed and every night they have three pirate shows. Lot's of dancing, fireworks, and explosions. It was fun, but pretty corny.
These are the pirate ships from the show. The last boat moves around to the front of the hotel and get's sunk! It's pretty wild.
That's it. It was a fun trip, I kept out of trouble and got some work done while I was at it. Talk to you soon.
Ricky
